Prowers Medical Center Makes a Generous Donation to Lamar Area Hospice and Lamar Estates

On June 26, 2025, team members from Prowers Medical Center visited the Lamar Area Hospice Association and Lamar Estates donating four bedside blanket warmers, along with compatible blankets, to each organization. Bedside blanket warmers are devices designed to heat blankets, primarily used in healthcare settings to enhance patient comfort and well-being. These warmers can also help prevent hypothermia and contribute to a more positive patient experience.

Following a recent upgrade of their blanket warmer equipment, Prowers Medical Center seized the opportunity to donate their existing units. “We chose to support Hospice and the Lamar Estates Nursing Home,” stated Connie Akers, Prowers Medical Center’s Purchasing Manager. “Given that their patient populations are more susceptible to cold, this decision seemed especially appropriate.” Amanda Vasquez, Marketing Specialist at PMC, added, “Lamar Hospice and Lamar Estates provide invaluable services to our community, and we are pleased to give back to them.”

“Lamar Area Hospice is truly grateful for the donation from Prowers Medical Center. These blanket warmers will provide a warm & comforting environment for our patients, which will enhance their quality of life,” said Collette Widener, Chief Financial Officer at Lamar Area Hospice, “We are thankful for the opportunity to come together to take care of our beloved community”.

“Lamar Estates is appreciative for the blanket warmers and blankets donated by Prowers Medical Center, stated Sarah Aguilera, Lamar Estates Nursing Home Administrator, “This will bring comfort and joy to many of our residents at Lamar Estates. We are thankful for our small-town partnerships and our ability to serve our communities.”
