What’s up Colorado FFA! I’m Windsor Leighty from the McClave FFA chapter in southeastern Colorado. I am honored to be serving as your 2024-2025 State President. I have grown up in the rural town of McClave where I was around production agriculture and developed a true passion for faith, family, and agriculture. As a little girl I had always dreamed of raising my own show lambs just like my mother did. After receiving a SAE grant I was able to start Leighty Club Lambs where I bred and sold my own Hampshire Suffolk cross bred show lambs. Later in high school I started a butcher lamb operation alongside my breeding operation. I have participated in parliamentary procedure, farm business management, livestock evaluation, range judging, prepared public speaking, and quiz bowl during my time in FFA. In high school I played volleyball, softball, basketball, and ran track. I was a part of student government, National Honors Society, RAKtivist, Newspaper Club, Yearbook, and FBLA. My small community helped me develop strong relationships and a passion for bridging the gap of rural and urban agriculture.
I plan on attending a four-year university after state office to pursue a degree in agriculture education with a minor in animal sciences. My goal this year is to serve this organization with passion, love, and impact. I strive to lead this team not only of 10 but of over 9,000 members with grace and humility. I truly believe everyone has value in the agriculture industry, so let the blue jacket be an equalizer across the state. Let’s make this the best year yet COFFA!
