A mass of Christian burial for lifelong Lamar, Colorado resident Antonio George Benabides, affectionately known to his family and friends as George, will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at the St, Frances de Sales/ Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Reverend Leonardo Ayuyao’S.S.S. as celebrant. A rosary service will be held prior to the Mass at 9:30AM with Deacon Allan Medina reciting. A rite of committal will follow at the Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, Colorado.
Visitation for George will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 5:00 until 7:00PM at the Peacock Family chapel.
George was born on February 22, 1939 at Lamar, Colorado to Esquipulã and Guadalupe (Orozoco) Benabides and passed away on August 05, 2024 at the Memorial Central Hospital with his family by his side at the age of 85.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Frances A. Benabides, two sons Ralph Fernandez and Gilbert Banuelos, granddaughter Sonia Castro Lucero and two great-grandchildren Dylan and Cylas.
He is survived by his children Barbara (Joe) Castro of Lakewood, CO, Anthony (Carmen) Benabides of Pueblo, CO, Sylvia (Andrew Hernandez) Benabides of Pueblo, CO, Robert (Toni) Benabides of Aurora, CO, Liz (Kevin) Appel of Holly, CO, Delores Medina and Frank Ortiz both of Pueblo, CO, eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins other family and a host of friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
