28th Annual Lamar Area Hospice “Angel Open” golf tournament continues to be a favorite for local golfers

Under a hot, bright sun early in the morning on Saturday, August 17, 24 teams of golfers converged on the Spreading Antlers Golf Course in Lamar. They were there to participate in the 28th Annual Lamar Area Hospice’s “Angel Open” tournament, with all proceeds being donated to the very worthy organization. The popular four-person scramble format tournament fills up early each year with both men’s and women’s teams eager to claim bragging rights and play for prizes donated by area merchants. As usual, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves immensely and the weather, while a bit on the warm side, cooperated nicely.
There were three flights, made up of 8 teams each. Winners of the flights and individual prize winners are below.
1st Flight (Caring Hands) winners:
First Place: Buzzard’s Roost
Second Place: D & Z Plumbing
Third Place: W.H.O. Manufacturing
2nd Flight (Warm Hearts) winners:
First Place: Mauch Farms
Second Place: Maggart & Sons
Third Place: Colorado Mills #1
3rd Flight ((Friends and Family) winners:
First Place: R. Farmer, CPA
Second Place: Community State Bank

Individual winners and their prizes:
The men’s driver raffle winner was Tom Campbell and the women’s driver raffle winner was Pam Vallejos. Men’s longest putt winner was Matt Neuhold (hole #4) and women’s winner was Terry Turpin (hole #2). Straightest drive winners (both on hole #3) were John Brodecky for the men and Jane Thompson and Susie Palmer for the women. Hole #8 winner was John Martinez for the men and Rhonda Palmer for the women. In drawings, Matt Neuhold won a La Lupita’s gift card, Lisa Schwarte won a gift card to AM Breakfast and the Home Store gift card went to Angie Cue. The “ball in the water” winner was Jim Brodecky.
