Karen Ann (Gray) Roberson was born on April 11, 1944 in Las Animas, Colorado to Audrey Jean (Cass) and Thomas Michael Grey of Hasty, Colorado.
Karen grew up in Hasty as an only child, but with lots of friends (many are lifelong) and surrounded by multiple family members.
Schooling consisted of elementary at Lakeview and high school in McClave.
She married her high school sweetheart, Cloyse Alford Robertson. Boy did her family grow, as he was the last of 12. She said there was never a quiet or dull moment. They made it just 2 months shy of their 60th Anniversary in 2022.
Karen is known for her smile, kindness and never ending love of life, family and friends. Their house was a place where everyone was welcome and giving boundless.
Karen worked at The Valley Grocery with her parents until her mom, Audrey retired. She sold Avon for 10+ years, not sure she made any money as our shelves held a variety of Avon items. But on her outings she had many friends who looked forward to her visits. Lastly she worked at The Hasty Liquor store, of which she and CA were part owners.
They moved to Robstown, Texas about 22 years ago to be nearer to their children, grandchildren and then great grandsons.
Many a family member enjoyed their hospitality when they visited and came to vacation at Padre Island.
She will be greatly missed by her surviving family. Son, Michael Robertson – his daughters Ahmi and Mi’Chaelis Robertson and her daughter Brenda Place, son-in-law Chuck Place – his son Hudson and Christa Place and her son Makon.
Karen will be laid to rest at Union Valley Cemetery in Hasty, Colorado next to her parents and husband. Graveside service at 10:30am on October 28, 2018 followed with fellowship at McClave Community Church around 11:30am. Please come and share your memories with our family.
