Dear Editor, Seasonal Donations
Barbara Crimond | Dec 04, 2019 | Comments 0
We’re two weeks into our bell ringing season and we’re off to a great start! At writing this, I am aware of about $2,000 raised so far through the Salvation Army kettles and through our GoFundMe efforts (2020 Helping People in Prowers campaign). If history repeats itself, that will take care of January’s needs and maybe a little bit of February’s needs. We’ve still got a long way to go. We have plenty of time, though, and a very generous community. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
I also wanted to clear up a misunderstanding that’s been going around. Ninety percent of what is raised through the Salvation Army Red Kettle campaign stays in Prowers County. Ten percent of what is raised through those kettles goes to the Salvation Army because they help administrate the money and help us out in the fundraising campaigns as well. If one wants to make sure that 100% stays in Prowers County, then a donation to the Lamar Colorado Ministerial Alliance (LCMA) is the right course of action. Again those checks can be sent to LCMA, 1001 South Main Street, Lamar CO 81052. The GoFundMe money also stays here in Prowers County.
I want to thank all of those who have agreed to help us ring those bells so far. I want to give a GREAT BIG shout out to both Safeway and Walmart for their willingness to host us. Thanks also to all the bell ringing volunteers: TBK Bank, the Lamar Police Department Auxiliary, the Wiley Lions Club, the High Plains Fellowship Youth Group, the IServe Group from Lamar Christian Church, The Brew Crew from Brew Unto Others, congregants from Lamar Christian Church, First Baptist Church, United Methodist Church, Missionary Baptist Church, High Plains Fellowship, Wiley Community Church, Grace Fellowship and a lot of individuals too numerous to list out here—you all have been invaluable to the cause. Thank you all so much for your willingness to help. We still need help ringing the bells. The last two weekends have some pretty gaping holes in them. If you can help, please call me at 719-691-5075 or email me at pastor.darren.stroh@gmail.com.
Thank you and Merry Christmas
Pastor Darren Stroh
