CSP Investigates Bent County Crash

On Friday, November 29, 2019 at 16:20 hours, a white Ford pickup, driven by 45 year old Chad Hawkins of Lamar with one minor passenger, was northbound on Bent County Road 35. Hawkins failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign located at Bent County Road 35 and Bent County Road LL. A purple Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by 19 year old Arthur Wilk of McClave along with a juvenile male and female passenger, was westbound on Bent County Road LL. Wilks collided into the side of the Ford pickup as it went through the intersection. The Ford pickup ran off the left side of the roadway and stopped in a field on its wheels facing northwest. The PT Cruiser spun clockwise and stopped on its wheels facing southeast on the roadway.
Wilk sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Prowers Medical Center. The juvenile male, from McClave, and the juvenile female, from Kit Carson, were transported by ambulance to Prowers Medical Center with serious injuries.
Hawkins and his minor passenger were transported to Prowers Medical Center. Hawkins received moderate injuries from the crash. All occupants in the crash were unrestrained except for the minor passenger in the Ford pickup. Drugs and alcohol were not a contributing factor to this crash.
