Lamar Rotary Club and Lamar Interact members are preparing for their second annual “Rotary Kids’ Christmas,” on Saturday, December 15th at 10:00 a – 2:00 p at the Shore Arts Center (117 N. Main Street). Complete with a visit and photo with Santa, there will be multiple activities appealing to kids and families as well as an optional train ride through the Enchanted Forest.
The clubs invite children of all ages to visit downtown at the Shore Arts Center for an enjoyable time. There will be craft stations, which will include opportunities for kids to decorate their own Christmas crafts including photo frames (in which to put their free pictures with Santa). Kids may also have their faces painted. Families may enjoy a train ride through the Enchanted Forest and back to the Shore Arts Center Park before or after participating in the activities.
Parents are welcome to assist kids with their crafts and warm up with a hot chocolate.
Each child will receive a treat bag from the Lamar Rotary Club.
Lamar Rotary embraces the opportunity to provide this special event for children during this cherished time of the year. Hosting it on December 15th means that families in town for the Holiday Basketball Tournament can stop by between games as well as enjoy shopping in downtown Lamar.
Chartered in 1921, Lamar Rotary has been a part of the Southeast Colorado landscape for 95 years. The professional organization of men and women serves Lamar and the area, giving back to its communities. One of its special interests is literacy. Its major annual project is distributing dictionaries to third grade students in Baca, Kiowa, and Prowers counties and McClave School. A significant fundraiser for the club is its annual Ducky Dash. It sponsored the Lamar Interact Club in 2017.
