Lamar Rotary and Interact Host Kid’s Christmas

You could hear a train’s whistle from down the block as you approached the Shore Arts Center Building and adjacent Pocket Park this past Saturday, December 15th. The Lamar Rotary Club and Interact was hosting their third Kid’s Christmas event in downtown Lamar.

All Aboard!!

The Santa Special train would wind its way from the Enchanted Forest and took the east entrance into the Pocket Park to allow passengers to depart and new ones to find a seat while Eric Depperschmidt took a break from engineering duties and the conductor, Rick Robbins, made sure everyone was safely on board before the next journey got underway and handed out wooden train whistles to some of the youngsters. The Park turned out to be the perfect size for a complete turnaround.

Craft Making

Indoors, dozens of families waited their turn to be photographed with Santa Claus while Mrs. Claus assisted in getting the line of youngsters securely on the jolly old gent’s lap. Booths and tables were set up next door, allowing other kids to spend time getting their face painted, learning how to make their own personal tree ornaments or just sitting down, sipping a cup of hot chocolate and observing all the goings-on.
