Holly Commercial Club Prepares for Holidays, 2019 Pedal the Plains Bicycle Event

Old Business:
Old-Fashioned Christmas will be December 4 from 5-7 P.M. Be looking for information on businesses that will be open that evening. Santa will be visiting the library that evening as well.
The Christmas lighting contest will be held on December 18. Prizes will again be awarded in three different categories: Religious, Traditional, Original/Unique
The movie for Granada school kids will be December 13 and Holly kid’s movie will be December 20. A discussion was held regarding a donation for water for the kids. This will be decided at our December meeting.
Christmas cards for this year were discussed. Production of this year’s card is in the works. Discussion was also held regarding possibly reprinting past year’s cards in a set and also possibly prints that can be framed and displayed. John Golden will gather information regarding this and present it at the next meeting.
New Business:
The Pedal the Plains tour has chosen Holly/Springfield/Lamaras the 2019 bicycle tour route. This will be an ongoing project for our community up until the time of the event which will be held September 13-15, 2019. The organizers are hoping for 1,000 bicyclists to participate. Please be thinking of area points of interest for visitors to see and experience. We will also need approximately 30 volunteers to make this event successful. More information will be presented as it becomes available.
Calvin Melcher reported that Holly Elementary School kids will have a Veteran’s day presentation on Monday November 12 at 10 A.M. in the new gym.
