Funeral Services for lifelong Holly, Colorado resident, Ruth Nordyke will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Holly Methodist Church with Pastor Kathy Leathers officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Cemetery. Visitation for Ruth will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2018 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Holly, Colorado.
Ruth Marie (Steward) Nordyke was born on the farm south of Holly, Colorado on January 1, 1943 to Carl and Hazel (Pizel) Steward. She passed away on October 3, 2018 at Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado at the age of 75.
Ruth married William “Bill” Nordyke on August 20, 1960. Their first child, Monty, was born in Presidio, California while Bill was in the service. After Bill was discharged in 1963, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado where their children, Debra and Michael were born. In 1976 Ruth and Bill moved the family to Holly where another son, Kirk Osban, made the family complete. Ruth was a homemaker. She took great pride in providing for her husband and children. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, arranging flowers, sewing and collecting bells. She frequently attended car races, sporting events, and trips to the lake with her children and grandchildren. Ruth attended and was active in the Holly United Methodist Church. She was never too busy to lend a helping hand at the church functions.
Ruth is survived by her children, Monty (Sheila) Nordyke, Deb Smith, Mike (Sandy) Nordyke, and Kirk (Tammy) Osban all of Holly; grandchildren, Raelyn (Tommy) Dunagan, Tanner (Kendal) Smith, Keegan (Alaina) Smith, Taylen and Kelbey Smith, Hayden (Callie Brase) Nordyke, Jace (Alex) Nordyke, Ryan (Shaile) Nordyke, Brendyn Nordyke, and Cael Nordyke; four great-grandchildren, July Dunagan, Ryker Smith, Jentry Dunagan, and Declan Smith; numerous nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Nordyke on December 26, 2013; sister, Mary Osban; and brother, Walter “Bud” Steward.
