Holly Commercial Club Prepares for Christmas Holidays

Holly Commercial Club members met Wednesday, October 3rd, to discuss activities for the approaching holiday season.

It was announced the Holly Library will hold a ‘Drawing for Christmas’ on Saturday, December 15th and additional details are available on their facebook page.  There was discussion for Club members to host Christmas drawings, reminiscent of older times.  President Frey said he would contact Jennifer Holdren, to inquire if she was organizing another Old Fashioned Christmas, similar to the successful event last year.  Pearl Reyman remarked that the Holly Historical Society has planned another Christmas Card sale as they did last year.

The second annual Holly Commercial Club cornhole tournament was a success with eight teams participating, but it was cautioned that for these types of events, Club members must assist and volunteer. It was recognized that the timing was an issue due to scheduling conflicts with events downtown and at the Fairgrounds.

There was a follow up discussion to tentatively set the date for the Old Fashioned Christmas for Tuesday, December 4, a date that should have fewer conflicts with other events. The discussion also decided that the Club would itself not hold a drawing, but individual businesses would be encouraged to hold them on their own.

The Library is planning to have a visit from Santa Claus that evening, scheduling allowed. Other vendors and businesses will be encouraged to take part and if some businesses do not have a storefront, contact Jesse Frey to see what arrangements can be made for additional space for the evening.

The sooner members can respond to this information, the sooner it can be shared through social media venues and flyers that will be printed and distributed.

The next HCC meeting is set for Noon on Wednesday, November 7th.
