This Tri-State 9/11 Tribute Memorial miniature is now available to the public for purchase. These are a representation of the larger memorial sculpture which will be erected at the permanent memorial Tribute site at the Big Timbers Museum on Highway 287 just north of Lamar. Funding from the sale of the miniatures will pay for the creation of the larger sculpture by renowned artist Scott Stearman, estimated at $90,000.
The miniature depicts an infantry soldier saluting the United States flag. He is flanked by a fireman and a law enforcement officer and is dedicated to all the first responders and service people who serve this nation. The cost of the sculpture is $400 and will be created on a per order basis which can be placed through either Doug Harbour at 719-691-0959 or Rose Ann Yates at 719-940-7424. Yates added, “The sculpture is available for viewing at GN Bank (formerly Valley National Bank) until November 6th, and after that it will be brought to another bank in Lamar for anyone who wishes to get an idea of the size and nature of the miniature.”
A groundbreaking ceremony was held in October 2016 at the memorial site and features a Wall of Honor, an illuminated 30 foot flagpole and a retaining wall and sandstone marker. The Wall of Honor will recognize active and honorably discharged military and First Responders. Three life-size statues will emerge from the central wall as depicted in the miniature version now on offer to the public. The Tri-State 9/11 Memorial Fund, as part of the Tri-State Foundation, is a Colorado 501 ©3 non-profit corporation.
