Oktoberfest and BBB Combine for Special Annual Treat

And They’re Off!

There should be ideal weather this Saturday, September 22nd for the Lamar Chamber of Commerce’s annual Oktoberfest and the 7th Annual 5K run/walk fundraiser for BBB, both taking place along East Beech Street in Lamar.

And They’re Back!!

If you should see about 300 persons wearing pink tee shirts and tutus, men and women of all ages and kids; it’s all part of the annual 5K run and walk fundraising event for Beers and Brats for Boobies, now in its seventh year. Registration takes place at 9am and the event kicks off on East Beech Street at 11am, raising funds to help combat and find a cure for breast cancer as well as support the workings of the Lamar Area Hospice group.

Oktoberfest at the Chamber

The three mile race incorporates the eating of a brat or hot dog and the sipping of a real or root beer drink, depending on age and preference. The event, begun by Jill Tinnes several years ago, is now conducted in her remembrance, honoring her legacy and commitment to helping those who have breast cancer, the disease to which she succumbed several years ago.

Area vendors will fill the Lamar Chamber parking lot with their wares including tasty food and cold beer as well as various craft displays.
