Aura Bell was born February 20, 1921, the third of fourteen children to Henry and Aura Thompson and was raised south of Holly, CO.
July 15, 1940, she married Philip Schnabel and resided on a farm south of Granada, CO. Four children were born to this union. She and Phil served many years as 4-H leaders and were very active in their community. Aura Bell accepted Jesus as her savior in the 1960s. She often hosted Five Day Clubs in her yard and served in Star Community Church in many capacities. Phil passed away April 1983.
Aura Bell married Harold Hamilton February 20, 1988, at which time she acquired three lovely step-daughters. Aura Bell and Harold made 100s of quilts which were sent to Elim Haven Mission.
Aura Bell was loved by everyone that she ever met and she loved them right back. She generously gave hugs to all.
Aura Bell was “Swept up by a chariot and a band of angels comin’ for to carry her home” when her loving heart gave out September 20, 2018.
Aura Bell was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings; husband, Philip Schnabel; husband, Harold Hamilton; step-daughter, Charmaine Herbel; and great-grandson, Robert Swaim.
Aura Bell is survived by son, David (Dorothy) Schnabel of Dodge City, KS; son, Ross (Bonni) Schnabel of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Kay (Ernie) Anderson of Greeley, CO; Karon (Wayne) Cope of Crosby, TX; step-daughter, Kathy (Bob) Glassburn of Padroni, CO; step-daughter, Jan Michael of Sterling, CO; as well as 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many other beloved relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
A celebration of her life service will be held October 27, 2018, 10:00 AM at the Valley Memorial Chapel in Holly, CO, followed by lunch for all at the Holly Senior Center.
