Annual 9/11 First Responder Tri-State Tribute Set for September 8

On Saturday, September 8 we would like to invite folks to come to Lamar, Colorado for the Tri-State 9-11 Tribute event that honors 1st Responders and Military, past and present! Our mile long parade starts at 10 am. Grand Marshalls in memorium will be the three law enforcement officers we lost earlier this year from El Paso, Adams and Douglas Counties.

Wall of Honor

The parade will include heroes in Law, EMS, Fire, Active Duty Military, Veterans, and many other 1st Responders. We have vehicles and parade floats for 1st Responders and Military, past and present, to ride on!

A partial list of participating units include: Fort Carson Mounted Color Guard, 4th Infantry Division Marching Band, Lamar High School and Middle School Marching Bands, El Paso Color Guard, Fountain Police Dept., Dept. of Corrections Color Guard, Florence Fire Dept., Canon City Fire Dept., Crowley County Fire, Troops to Teachers, Lamar, Wiley, Hasty & McClave Fire, Colorado State Patrol, Venture, Cub, Boy & Girl Scouts, AirMedCare, John Martin Corps of Engineers, Veterans Administration, Marine Corp League and many other units.

This year we are excited to announce that the United States Air Force’s Wild Blue Country Band will provide a free 90 minute concert at the conclusion of our Formal Ceremony.

After the Parade arrives at the Prowers County Fairground the following events occur:

10:30: Vendors & Booths, and visit our Hall of Honor in Centennial Bldg.
11:00: Arson Dog Demonstration (Pavilion)
11:30: Flag Retirement Ceremony by Local Scout Troops (Pavilion)
12:00: Free Patriotic Music provided by 4th ID’s Brass Authority Band (Arena)
12:00: BBQ, free to 1st Responders & Military, past & present, others $5/plate
1:00: Formal Tribute Ceremony in Fairground Arena for all our Heroes
2:00: Concert by US Air Force Academy Wild Blue Country Band – free to all

We have also co-opted promotions with Lamar Flight Service that will provide a 1940 Vintage War Bird for parade Flyover. On Sunday, September 9th, Lamar Flight Service will host the Lamar Memorial Air Show/Fly-in. The event starts at 8 am and runs until noon. There will be military air craft, Drone demonstrations, General Aviation static displays, food, giveaways, and more.
