“TBK Bank employees have been donating some of their time through May, working at the food bank at Sparrow House Ministries,” said Brenda May, TBK Business Development Officer, adding that their experience has been very eye opening.
May said the bank’s employees donated $250 of their own money to the food bank which will be matched by a donation from the bank. “The bank has a policy of donating matching funds to any 501C3 charity,” May explained this past Wednesday, May 30th as the donation was being made. May said she hopes the community is aware that monetary donations are appreciated just as much as food donations. Sparrow House Directors, Joel and Veronica Jacoby said the funds are appreciated as they try to help meet the needs of from 800 to 1,000 people per month. Their headquarters recently relocated to the former Sunday school wing of the Calvary Baptist Church at the corner of Third and Cedar Streets.
The food pantry is open Thursdays with the full pantry available on the first and third Thursdays from noon to 1:30pm and 6 to 7:30pm and on the second and fourth Thursdays from 5 to 7pm. Sparrow House Ministries can be reached at 719-468-6999 or on their face book site.
