Two Vehicle Accident at 6th and Hickory

Lamar Police and Lamar Fire, Ambulance and EMS responded to a two vehicle accident that occurred shortly before 8am on Thursday, March 1st, at the intersection of 6th and Hickory Streets, due north of the railroad crossing in Lamar.
While details are not available at this time, EMS responders appeared to be transferring one occupant of a vehicle to an ambulance as this reporter arrived on the scene.
Hickory, which runs east and west, does have stop signs located at the intersection with 6th Street. A more complete report will be filed later. It should be noted that since the Main Street Improvement project moved to the immediate downtown area, Hickory Street is being used more than average to avoid detours.
(editor’s note: had earlier reported incorrectly, that Hickory runs north and south. article has been corrected to reflect that.)
