The Prowers County Lodging Panel ended their year with $27,973 in carry-over funds for 2018, three outstanding pledges for future events and three vacancies on the Panel Board.

Pat Palmer, who has served as the Panel president announced at the November meeting that he will not seek another term, joining one other panel member who is not returning for 2018 and a continued vacancy for a member who resigned several months ago.

Myrna DuVall will act as interim president at the January 16th meeting at which time the board will hold an election of officers and see if any qualified candidates have been reviewed by the Prowers County Commissioners.  Applications are made to their office and qualified candidates are voted on for the Panel.  Candidates should have some connection to the tourism industry in Prowers County either as a business owner, manager or employee.  Forms are available on the Prowers County website. The Panel meets on the third Tuesday of each month.

The three events that have received funding pledges for 2018 are for two rodeos, the Colorado Junior Rodeo Association for 2018-2020, the Southeast All-Stars Rodeo and an advertising inclusion in next year’s Colorado Life Magazine, highlighting events in southeast Colorado.

The next scheduled meeting will be at 4pm on Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
