Good Turnout for Toys for Tots Donations at Local Warmart Stores

Cruiser Filled with Gifts

The Colorado State Patrol held its 5th Annual Christmas Cruiser Challenge: Pack the Patrol Car on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Walmart stores in La Junta and Lamar. For the 5th year, the CSP Patrol Cars were parked before the main entrance to the store in Lamar, receiving donations from shoppers hunting for those after-Thanksgiving bargains.

Volunteer Officers from CSP

For the past several years, the Colorado State Patrol has challenged the community to pack the patrol cars with toys, which will be given to local children for Christmas. And each year, the public has responded to their message. The toys collected at the La Junta Walmart will be donated children in that local area.  The toys collected at the Lamar Walmart will be donated to the Lamar Toys for Tots.

Lamar officers who donated their time were Tague, Bear, Cope, Casebolt and Branniman. They said they were aided in part by the warmer than usual day and the fact that a lot of early morning shoppers were out and stopped by to donate, although the crowds had thinned out a bit towards the end of their shift in front of the store.

If you are unable to donate on Friday and still wish to do so, you may contact the local Colorado State Patrol Troop Office: La Junta- 719-384-8981 Lamar- 719-336-7403.

Monetary donations are also greatly appreciated!
