Recently the women of Delta Kappa Gamma graciously donated a check for $200 to Prowers County Public Health, in support of their reading program, to purchase new books for the many children they see during WIC and Immunization appointments.

Prowers County Public Health’s book program was established years ago as a way to increase interaction between families and to promote reading. For many families, having the resources to purchase new books for their children isn’t always available, so having the opportunity to provide a new book to these children helps to increase language skills, larger vocabularies and stronger parent-child bonds.

Over the years, Prowers County Public Health’s book program has been supported by various fund raisers as well as donations by organizations like Delta Kappa Gamma. If you our your organization would be interested in donating to Prowers County Public Health’s book fund, please contact Jo Lynn Idler, Prowers County Public Health, 336-8721.
