Regional Drug Task Force Makes Local Arrests

The Drug Task Force comprised of Prowers, Baca, Kiowa, and Cheyenne County Sheriff’s Offices, have been conducting drug operations over the course of the last several months. The below arrests are the outcome of two of the investigations.
On Friday, May 19, 2017, the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Cheyenne Watkins, 19, of Lamar, for Unlawful Distribution, Manufacturing, Dispensing, or Sale of Methamphetamines, a Drug Felony 2, and Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamines, a Drug Felony 4.
The charges are a result on an investigation where approx. 7.2 grams combined weight of Methamphetamines has been purchased over the course of the last several months from Watkins. Watkins was arrested on the warrant in the afternoon hours of Friday, May 19, 2017, by Prowers County Sheriff’s Office, and being held on a $150,000 cash/surety bond.
On Wednesday, May 10, 2017, the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office was able to obtain an arrest warrant for Michael Melgosa, 29, of Lamar, for Unlawful Distribution, Manufacturing, Dispensing, or Sale of Methamphetamines, a Drug Felony 1, and Unlawful Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance, Methamphetamines, a Drug Felony 4.
The charges are a result on an investigation where approx. 5.5 grams combined weight of Meth, have been purchased over the course of the last several months from Melgosa. Melgosa was arrested on the warrant in the afternoon hours of 05-19-17 by Lamar Police Department and assisted by Prowers County Sheriff’s Office. Melgosa is being held on a $100,000 cash/surety bond.
All subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
