Early Year Drop in Sales Tax

Sales tax revenue for the City of Lamar declined for January 2017, according to February collections. City Sales tax was down 7.97% for a drop of $20,370 compared to last year. Total Sales and Use Tax collections were off 10.09% for the same period for a decrease of $28,491, comparing $282,450 collected in 2016 to $253,958 for this year.
Year-to-Date collections were also down with City Sales tax revenue down 1.12% for a loss of $6,667 and total collections posted a 5.43% drop for a loss of $37,554 for the sale period. 2016 collections were at $691,948 and collections for 2017 were $654,687.
