Robert Harold Hamilton, 99 of Greeley formerly of Holly went to his heavenly home on Dec. 16, 2016 in Greeley.
A celebration of life is being planned for June 2017 in Holly when Harold would have turned 100.
Harold was born on June 6, 1917 in Groom, TX to Robert Bruce Hamilton and Neva Hughes Hamilton. When he was 3 the family moved to Holly.
He graduated from Holly High School in May 1935. In Sept. 1940 he entered into the US Army serving during WWII in Germany among other places.
After his discharge in June 1945 he moved to Denver where he met and married Virginia Spiller on Oct. 5, 1947. After their marriage they moved to Holly where Harold was employed by Donahue Motor Company for the next thirty years as the parts manager. Harold & Virginia had three daughters Kathy, Charmaine and Jan. They later divorced.
He was a member of the Holly VFW and Holly Volunteer Fire Department.
On Feb. 20, 1988 Harold married Aura Bell Thompson Schnabel. They lived south of Holly for many years until moving to Greeley in Sept. 2011 to be closer to family. They were very devoted to each other in their golden years
Harold was a faithful member of the Star Community Church and loved to read his Bible every day.
Harold was a man of few words, but he had a great smile and was a loving man. He loved to play Skip-Bo everyday with his wife Aura Bell and their friend Jack.
He is survived by his loving wife Aura Bell of Greeley; daughters, Kathy Glassburn (Bob) of Padroni, CO, Charmaine Herbel (Gary) of Kingsland, TX and Janice Michael of Sterling, CO; step-daughters, Kay Anderson (Ernie) of Greeley, CO, Karon Cope (Wayne) of Houston, TX; step-sons, Dave Schnabel (Dorothy) of Dodge City, KS and Ross Schnabel (Bonni) of Hutchison, KS; grandsons, Lance McDermed, Jason Glassburn and Blake Michael. He is also survived by nine step-grandchildren, step- great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Neva Hamilton; grandson, Christopher McDermed; son-in-law, Jon Michael; siblings, Irene Souders, Odette Ritchie, Marvin Hamilton, Bernard Hamilton, Helen Moore, Bernice Stultz, Lloyd Hamilton and Hazel Brown.
