Holly Commercial Club Previews Halloween-Christmas Activities

Members were informed that many Main Street businesses in Holly will be open for kid’s Trick-or Treat on Halloween evening, October 31st.  This will coincide with their dress-up day at school.  There is some doubt that the Hallow-Wog will be held this year at this point.

Marge Creech and Tracy Seufer presented their plan for a Bluegrass Committee fundraiser on Sunday, December 4th.  Dessert and drinks will be served at 1pm in the Senior Center, followed by music in the Theater at 1:30pm.  They have booked local talent for the event, “It’s a Holly Jolly Country Christmas.”  Tickets will be sold for $10 apiece.

The Old Fashioned Christmas is scheduled for Thursday, December 1st from 5 to 7pm.  Each business will be responsible for planning their own open house that evening.  Judging for the Christmas Light Contest is set for Tuesday, December 13th and the kids Christmas movie is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, December 15th.

In other action, two new members were added to the Club; Monica Leiker – Rodan & Fields and BNV’d/Hair Junkie which brings full-time membership to 25 with five associate members. The treasurer’s report showed a net loss of $1,300.59 for September and a year-to-date net loss of $1,439.93.  The Holly Shopper report showed a net income of $150.85 for September and a year-to-date net income of $498.12.

Monica Leiker agreed to assume the duties of monitoring and providing updates for the Holly Commercial Club’s facebook page. Brad Simon was thanked for improving the appearance of Main Street by cleaning and painting the storefront of the old Gamble Building.  Jesse Frey reported that the Directory Committee has a preliminary directory for Holly’s businesses and members have been asked to review it for any needed changes.  The Holly Shopper Committee will hold their annual meeting on December 7th.  There was no change for the cost of liability insurance from Golden Plains Insurance for a new year.  The premium of $618 was unanimously approved.  The next Commercial Club meeting is set for Noon at the United Church on November 2nd.
