DOLA Announces Marijuana Impact Grant Awards, Otero County is Recipient

Denver, CO – Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 – Today the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) Division of Local Government announced the award of $985,760 to seven local governments as part of the Local Government Marijuana Impact Grant Program. Projects include equipment for law enforcement, training/education for school district staff and law enforcement officers, and youth programs.

The purpose of this program is to provide grants to local governments who do not allow retail marijuana sales within their jurisdiction and have been impacted by retail marijuana activity in neighboring jurisdictions or for any illegal marijuana activity in their communities.

Otero County was a recipient and had requested $218,523 to be applied to law enforcement equipment and training. The award came to $128,647.
