Graveside Services for Lamar, Colorado resident, Virginia Rose will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 29, 2016 at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar, Colorado with Father Mariusz Wirkowski officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar.

Virginia (Oliva) Rose was born on September 7, 1931 in Hartman, Colorado to Julio and Tomasa (Martinez) Oliva. She passed away on July 24, 2016 at Lamar Estates at the age of 84.

Virginia loved nature. She and Clyde were especially fond of bird watching, walking and observing “the critters.” Virginia was a true farmer and rancher. She enjoyed raising cows, chickens, ducks, and peacocks.  Virginia was a high school cheerleader and was very active in all the sports in high school. Virginia’s first job was at the dry cleaners. She was very involved with high school reunions and was the life of every social gathering. According to her family and friends she was also known for being the best pecan pie baker ever.

Virginia is survived by her brother, Donald Oliva; sister, Mary Lou Trigg and husband, Frank; aunt, Ann (Bob) Wyatt; nieces and nephews, Donna Decker, Linda Baysinger (Lonce Robinson), Joyce (John) Burton, Darrel Baysinger, Gwyn Trigg, Frona Trigg (Mike) Dike, Roland (Stacey) Oliva, Doug (Juanita) Eddleman;  as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Rose; and sisters, Lenora Oliva and Rosalie (Veral) Baysinger.
