Funeral services for Arthur Zeno Smith will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2016 at the Seed and Supply Church in Las Animas, Colorado. Pastor Rod Coulter will officiate. Burial will follow at Fort Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #2411 and American Legion District #1 Post #6.
Arthur Zeno Smith was born on February 22, 1945 to William S. and Mary E. (Switzer) Smith in Dalhart, Texas and passed away on July, 26 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 71.
Arthur affectionately known as “Zeno” grew up in Middlewater, Texas. He then joined the United States Army. While he was serving our country, he earned two silver medals, one bronze medal, and the prestigious Purple Heart. After an honorable discharge from the Army, he moved to Colorado where he met and married Bobbie L. Walker in 1969. He worked for Chisum Cattle Company, Baldwin Resources, as well as Fort Lyon Canal Company, retiring in 1997.
Arthur is survived by his children, Lauri (Joe) Lynch of Pueblo, Colorado, Casey (Candice) Smith of Washington; siblings, John Smith of Dumas, Texas, George (Mary Ann) Smith of Alliance, Nebraska, and Bertha Gustin of Graham, Texas; grandchildren, Kyle (Madison) Root, Makayla Wight, Bree, Tyler, and Isabella Smith, Richard Lynch and Celestina Lynch; and former wife of 42 years, Bobbie L. (Walker) Smith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary (Switzer) Smith; and infant son, Troy Don Smith.
