Dixie Bitner receives prestigious O.P.E.R.A.T.E. Scholarship

Dixie Bitner, 2026 O.P.E.R.A.T.E. Scholarship recipient
Dixie Bitner of Wiley High School is one of two Colorado students receiving a 2026 O.P.E.R.A.T.E. Scholarship. The $2,500 college award is given by the Positive Athlete Organization – (PositiveAthlete.org ) to male and female high school student-athletes in Colorado who exhibit seven core principles – Optimistic, Prepared, Educated, Resilient, Accountable, Tenacious, and Efficient – both in athletics and their communities. Recipients are chosen based on their ability to lead, display perseverance, and positively influence their teammates, school, and community.
The Positive Athlete Mountain Region announced: “We’re beyond excited to announce the first of our two 2026 O.P.E.R.A.T.E. Scholarship winners in Colorado! These awards are incredibly special to our team because they’re our very own. We give these to athletes who O.P.E.R.A.T.E. with all Seven Definitions of a Positive Athlete on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities.
Dixie Bitner from Wiley High School has faced the heartbreaking loss of her best friend, her wrestling coach, and her grandfather to suicide. Rather than turning away, she plans to pursue a degree in Psychology at Missouri Valley College, moving toward the very thing that hurt her most so she can help others. This amazing young woman competed in softball, wrestling, baseball, track, basketball, cheerleading, volleyball, and football – and carried a 4.0 GPA. Her coach describes her as a true trailblazer who carries profound loss without losing herself. What an incredible example of resilience for all of our kids”!
Congratulations, Dixie! You are a shining example of the power of positivity, a strong work ethic and personal strength. We are so proud of you!
