City of Lamar Launches “WIN LOCAL” Campaign to Promote Community Pride, Economic Growth, and Local Engagement

LAMAR, COLORADO — The City of Lamar is proud to announce the launch of WIN LOCAL, a new community-focused initiative designed to encourage a stronger culture of local engagement, community pride, customer service, and economic support throughout Lamar and Southeast Colorado.

Introduced by Mayor Kirk Crespin, the WIN LOCAL campaign represents a shift in mindset from traditional “Shop Local” messaging toward a broader community effort focused on earning local support through positive experiences, hospitality, hometown service, and civic pride.

“In today’s economy, our local businesses are competing in a worldwide marketplace every single day,” said Mayor Kirk Crespin. “WIN LOCAL is about recognizing that communities must do more than simply ask consumers to shop local. We must work together as businesses, residents, and community ambassadors to create experiences, relationships, and a culture that encourages people to choose Lamar first.”

The campaign encourages local businesses and residents alike to actively participate in promoting and strengthening the community through positive representation, customer service, community involvement, and support for local growth and development.

According to city officials, the program is intended to complement Lamar’s ongoing efforts related to economic development, business attraction, tourism, downtown revitalization, community improvement, and public engagement.

Over the past several years, the City of Lamar has focused on initiatives aimed at strengthening the local economy, improving public spaces, supporting community partnerships, and encouraging long-term growth opportunities for residents and businesses alike. The WIN LOCAL campaign expands on those efforts by creating a unified message centered around community participation and local pride.

The initiative will include:

  • WIN LOCAL Business Recognition Decals
  • WIN LOCAL Ambassador Recognition Decals
  • Community outreach and promotional materials
  • Public engagement campaigns
  • Social media awareness efforts
  • Community participation opportunities

Businesses recognized as “Win Local Businesses” will be encouraged to demonstrate dependable service, hospitality, honesty, local knowledge, and a commitment to helping strengthen Lamar’s economy and reputation.

“Win Local Ambassadors” will help promote Lamar by supporting local businesses, welcoming visitors, sharing positive experiences, and encouraging others to become involved in the community.

Mayor Crespin emphasized that the campaign is not simply about advertising local shopping, but rather about creating a stronger overall community culture.

“A strong community is not built by slogans alone,” Crespin said. “It is built by people who choose every day to participate, contribute, support one another, and represent their community in a positive way. WIN LOCAL is about creating a culture where businesses and residents work together to help Lamar compete, grow, and succeed!”

The city hopes the campaign will encourage long-term community engagement while helping local businesses better compete against online retailers and out-of-town commerce by focusing on customer relationships, trust, hospitality, and local experiences that larger competitors cannot easily replicate.

Additional information about the WIN LOCAL campaign, including participation opportunities and future recognition programs, will be released in the coming weeks.

“When our businesses Win Local, our entire community Wins with them,” the Mayor said. “This campaign is about celebrating what makes Lamar strong and working together to keep our hometown moving forward.”

The Mayor invites all residents, businesses, and community partners to join the movement, contribute, participate and help Lamar Win Local every day.
