James W. Copess…April 25, 1935 – November 11, 2019

James W. Copess, known to most as Jim, the third of five siblings, was born April 25, 1935 in Tulia, Texas to Clarence and Mary (Reed) Copess. He passed away on November 11, 2019 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 84. Per Jim’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no services.

Jim was united in marriage to Bonnie Miller on June 14, 1952 in Raton, New Mexico. Jim began his early life working in the farming community, then began his own auto clinic in Lamar in which he operated for several years. He later became the ranch manager at Cage Ranch where he remained for 25 years until he retired back to Las Animas, Colorado.

Jim is survived by his wife, Bonnie; two daughters; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, one sister; one niece; and an infant brother.
