CSP Investigates Prowers County Fatality

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a traffic crash that resulted in one fatality in Prowers County.

A 2013 Hyundai Veloster was driving southbound on Colorado 287 when it collided its front into the back of a semi-truck pulling a trailer that was stopped in the southbound lane waiting in line to enter a construction zone. The Hyundai remained in contact with the back of the semi-truck where they came to final rest in the middle of the south bound lane.

The driver of the Hyundai Veloster was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

The driver of the Hyundai Veloster was not wearing their seatbelt at the time of the crash. Drugs and Alcohol are suspected to be a contributing factor in the crash.
