The 4th Annual Lamar Chamber of Commerce, Taste of Lamar was held at the Lamar Eagles Lodge this past Saturday, July 13th.

For a set price, attendees enjoyed sampling various treats, eats, wines and liquors offered by local restaurants, chamber members and businesses such as Colorado Mills.

Don Compton’s businesses took the hat trick with samplings available from The Pit Stop, Rivals and Olive Street Station.  You could try a jalapeno infused vodka with a mojito mix from Olive Street Station and other flavors plus fried chicken strips or sandwiches from Rivals and the Pit Stop as well as poppers, salads, wraps or onion rings.

Brew Unto others kept it cool for their summer offering with a combination of a health salad and chocolate chip cookies.

The relatively new Butcher Shop in Wiley had barbecue on the mind with samplings of sauces, ribs and a tender tasty brisket.

Coronicas in Lamar brought out some new wines which were highlighted by being low in carbs, so samplings went to the lips, and not the hips.

Quiznos offered sandwich such as your classic Italian deli meats to turkey and beef, and an all-vegetable sandwich as well as some of their classic cookies.

Safeway highlighted their deli department with a fruit and cheese plate as well as their noted pinwheel sandwiches of roast beef, turkey and ham.

Colorado Mills, known for its regional grain processing plant showed how tasty various cooking oils can be when made from area farming fields as well as a new line of organic-based cosmetics.

KVAY provided the musical entertainment for the evening and their radio host kept the event lively with periodic announcements from the vendors and door prizes.

The silent auction items ranged from a table top wine rack from antlers, a Yeti cooler, filet mignon steaks, oil paintings and photographs and even a 1950s vintage-oriented ladies bicycle.
