90th Birthday Celebration for George Ira Blackwell of the Holly Area

George Ira (Bud) Blackwell’s family celebrated his 90th birthday at the Holly Park this past Saturday, July 13th, 2019. Many family and friends (the majority from the Denver area) gathered to celebrate with a picnic, BBQ, cake and swimming. Bud’s great grandfather, Ira Eugene Blackwell was the first generation to start a homestead in Prower’s County in 1918. Ira’s son George Omar and his wife Lucy Blackwell had a very successful farming business for many years before George I. and Katheryn Bean (who grew up in Lamar) Blackwell took over. George Ira (Bud) and Kathy lived in Aurora prior to that where he reitred after serving 25 years in the Coloraod Air National Guard. They hve four children, seven grandsons and nine great grandchildren. The family wanted to share the annoucement of this cherished event with friends, relations and neighbors.
