Shiann Fritzler, Walsh High School Student, was awarded the 9th Annual SDS Walter Ely Scholarship, Monday, May 20th at the Southeastern Development Services office in the amount of $1,200. Board members selected her written essay that showed her compassion for individuals with intellectual and development disabilities and her well-planned future goals.
“I’m planning to attend Bethany College in Linsborg, Kansas in the fall, majoring in psychology with an emphasis on physical therapy. I selected these studies because I was injured with a torn ACL on two occasions and I know from experience that rehabilitation is as much mental as well as physical healing and I hope to be able to work in both fields,” she explained.
Shianne lives near Two Butters, CO and has grown up with a brother who suffers from Cerebral Palsy and has shown great compassion and love for him.
