City Sales Tax Revenue Continues Year-Long Improvement

 

 

Although the monthly sales tax revenue for the City of Lamar posted a slim gain for June sales, the year to date figures continued to show growth. City Sales Tax was up 0.51% for a $1,615.24 increase over the year before with 2017 at $314,737.26 and 2018 at $316,352.50.  Use Tax collected was down 3%.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections was up only 0.32% for a gain of $1,057.02 with collections for 2017 at $334,833.59 and $335,890.61 for the current year.

Year to Date City Sales Tax collected was up 7.64% for an increase of $148,780.12. Collections for 2017 were $1,947,403.74 while 2018 was $2,096,183.86.  Use Tax, YTD was up 44.52% for a healthy gain of $72,003.22 and Other Collections were up 26.15% for a gain of $3,977.05.  Total Sales and Use Tax collections were ahead of last year by 10.58% which translates to a gain of $224,760.39 for this year compared to 2017 which was at $2,124,343.12 and for 2018, YTD, collections were at $2,349,103.51.

With the exceptions of Furniture/Appliances/Electronics and Manufacturing, all other Retail Trade categories posted increased over a three year comparison.
