(Lamar, CO) July 27, 2018 –
On Monday, July 30th, Prowers Medical Center will begin an infrastructure project to replace an aging sewer line. This will require the closure of the hallway that starts at the main hallway and then heads east toward the Emergency Department.
Access to this hallway will be CLOSED to all hospital staff and the general public throughout the duration of the project. We anticipate the project to take two weeks, but are hopeful that we can complete the work within a shorter time frame.
Therefore, the internal traffic flow and access to the following departments will be modified during the project:
- Health Information Management (HIM) – Staff in the main HIM office will be relocated allowing access to electronic medical records. Requests for medical records related to paper charts may be delayed for a period of 3 to 4 weeks.
- Information Technology (IT) – Access to this department will be available off of the main hallway that leads to the Cafeteria.
- Imaging Department – Access to this department for scheduled procedures will be rerouted.
- Lab Department – The Phlebotomy area has been conveniently relocated to an area immediately off of the main hallway that leads to the cafeteria. All blood work procedures will be available in the new “temporary” location.
Central Registration for the above listed departments as well as Cardio-Pulmonary will remain in its current location adjacent to the Front Lobby area. Hospital staff will be on hand to personally escort and guide visitors to their destinations.
Access to the Emergency Department (ED) will not be compromised. Please continue to access this area through the ED Entrance on the east side of our facility.
The inconvenience of handing over the entire hallway will improve safety and speed for the contractors allowing them to turn the hallway back over in a timely manner. For safety purposes, it is imperative that all Team Members and Visitors avoid the construction area and abide by safety postings throughout the duration of the project. Please Do Not Cross Construction Perimeters.
