Dear Editor: Re-Ballot Issue 2A

Dear Editor:

July 19, 2018,

Seven months have passed since the defeat of Ballot Issue 2A in the municipal election last fall. If the initiative, which would have created a room tax for the city of Lamar, had passed, there would potentially be approximately $100,000 dollars collected for the purpose of promoting our town.

The upside of this proposal is that the revenue could have been generated without charging our local citizens. I have been patiently waiting for one of the 811 persons who voted against this proposal to present their ideas for improving our community without additional cost to the residents of Lamar.  Remember, if you always do what you have always done, you always get what you have always got.  I am looking forward to having a conversation concerning this topic in 2019.
