Stella V. Avila…May 27, 1933 – April 5, 2018

 

A celebration of life memorial service for longtime Lamar resident, Stella V. Avila, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday April 20, 2018 at the Peacock Family Chapel in Lamar with Ian Blacker of the Lamar Christian Church officiating.  In-Urnment will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Per the Stella’s request, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation.

Stella Avila was born on May 27, 1933 in Las Vegas, NM to Alberto Quintana and Rosa Duran-Quintana and departed this life on Thursday April 5, 2018 at the Prowers Medical Center in Lamar at the age of 84.

Stella was preceded in death by her parents; by two children – Mario Montano and Cindy Oakley; as well as by two siblings – Frank Quintana and Esther Baca.

Stella is survived by three daughters – Christine Kelley of Ft. Collins; Alberta (Bill) Turman of Owasso, OK; and Lorraine Montano of Bristol; by 11 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; and by her siblings – Benny (Pricilla) Duran of Albuquerque; Joe Duran of Denver; Eurcina Duran (JoAnn Becker) of Garden City; Flora (Robert) Montoya of Lamar; Maggie (Mac) Campos of Lamar; John Duran of Denver; Alice (Mike) Navarrette of Lamar; Irene (Joe) Gonzales of Lamar; and David Duran of Bristol; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Stella V. Avila memorial fund in care of the funeral home office.
