Groundbreaking for the High Plains Pediatric Clinic Set for October 6th

High Plains Expansion Project

High Plains Community Health Center is very excited to announce its most recent expansion project in the Dental Clinic and Pediatric Office. Both offices, located at 200 Kendall Drive, will undergo major changes over the next 6-9 months that will result in more effective clinic spaces for both locations.  High Plains is utilizing the services of MonCor, LLC of Lamar, CO and HGF Architects, Inc. of Pueblo, CO for the construction and architectural work for this project.

The expansion will take place beginning in October and will extend the current building out to the West, making the building a true rectangle shape. The entrance of both buildings will combine to have one entrance with a shared waiting room.  The new waiting room will have a double Receptionist area, a private breastfeeding area, and two play locations.

The Dental Clinic’s expansion will provide more work and office space for the Dental Team and will not have an effect on the patient areas in that building.

The Pediatric Office will see the most change of the two locations. The expansion will bring seven brand new exam rooms and two exam/procedure rooms.  The Pediatric Office will house a Behavioral Health Clinician office on site and will have the potential to have an additional Pediatric medical provider in the same location with Dr. Gino Figlio.  The current exam rooms will be remodeled and turned into a new lab and office spaces for the Pediatric staff.

The expansion project will take about 6-9 months to complete. During that time, our operations will have to adjust to ensure the safety of patients and the crews working hard to get this project completed.

Dr. Figlio’s office will move to the Main Clinic at 201 Kendall Drive beginning October 10, 2017, where he will be taking patients from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM and 1:30 to 7:00 PM Monday through Thursday. The current Pediatric Office will be completely shut off to anyone but the construction crews.  Dr. Hudson, Joshua Norman, Susanna Storeng, and Tennille McBride will all continue to see their patients at the Main Clinic as well.  The addition of one provider in the Main Clinic will create a more crowded waiting room and parking lot so please be prepared, however, High Plains staff will work diligently to ensure our highly-valued patients remain comfortable.

The Dental Clinic will continue to operate out of their current space with changes to the entrance and parking. The West side of the building will be shut off, which includes the parking lot.  This will cause the entrance of the Dental Clinic to be moved to the back door.  Patients will enter normally on Wellness Way and drive towards the Adult Health Center.  From there they will drive through that parking lot and park in the back of the Dental Clinic and Pediatric Office locations.  This is the area that staff have traditionally parked.  The Dental Clinic will have staff available upon entrance in the back door to assist with check in and appointments.  Signs will be located in the parking lot to assist with the changes in parking and entrances.

High Plains will be hosting a Ground Breaking Ceremony that is open to the public to attend on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 10:30-11:30 AM. The ceremony will be held in the parking lot of the Dental Clinic and Pediatric Office.  Light snacks will be provided.
