Las Animas Resident Injured in Single Vehicle Crash

The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating a single vehicle traffic crash that occurred on July 23, 2017 at approximately 11:30 AM and was discovered on July 24, 2017 at approximately 11:49 AM. The crash occurred on Highway 350 at milepost 70.5 in Otero County.

A yellow 2014 Kia Soul was northbound on Hwy 350. The driver of the Kia Karen Donkle (69 year old female from Las Animas) went off of the left side of the roadway.  The Kia went through a fence and traveled through a field before going into an abandoned lot covered in trees and weeds.  The Kia hit a large stump and rolled two and three quarter times coming to rest on its left side facing south.

The crash is currently under investigation by the Colorado State Patrol. Alcohol and drug are not being considered as factors in the crash.

The driver was using her seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Colorado State Patrol would like to remind drivers to always buckle up.
