Lamar Sales Tax Revenue Report

Revenue from the City of Lamar sales tax declined again, posting a 3.75% drop for City Sales Tax, Use Tax and other collections, and a 3.95% drop for Sales and Use Tax collected since the start of the year. The City Sales Tax was off a fraction of a percentage point at 0.04%. The May report for taxes collected in April showed a $10,613 decline compared to the same month last year when the total collections were $283,298 for 2016 compared to $272,684 for the current year.
Year-to-date collections for City Sales Tax were off 1.17% for a decrease of $15,966 and down a cumulative 3.95% or $61,343 off from the same time last year. Collections for 2016 were at $1,553,402 and for 2017 total collections were at $1,492,058.
The 12 retail trades categories of sales tax revenue had a drop in about 50% of the categories, comparing the pasts three years, year-to-date.
