“The level of local generosity is really enjoyable to see,” explained CSP officer, J.W. Branniman this past Friday, November 25th.  For the fourth year, the Colorado State Patrol has hosted a ‘Pack the Cruiser’ campaign to raise funds for the local Toys for Tots event.  Patrol cars and a van are parked at Walmart in Lamar and La Junta from 7am to 3pm.  “Our donations are used in Lamar, while the post in La Junta uses their donations for their local charities,” Branniman said.

He noted that this time, there were five new bicycles donated, mostly sized for younger children. “We even got some donations from people outside our area.  One couple who were apparently driving through filled up a shopping cart full of toys and donated them to us earlier.  We also have had about $300 in cash donations which will also purchase some more brand-new toys,” he explained.

Four CSP officers were on duty for the eight hour shift with two, Casebolt and Dieterle, from the Port of Entry and officers Branniman and Gilmore from Troop 2C from the Lamar office.
