(Lamar Colorado, October 6, 2016) The Lamar football team and the Lamar DECA program are joining together for a week of childhood cancer awareness!

On Tuesday, October 18, Lamar DECA’s Race Against Childhood Cancer will take place at Savage Stadium. We are currently acquiring sponsors from businesses within our community to donate to support teams who will then run in the jog-a-thon for an hour. These teams will consist of our own fall sports teams (Volleyball, Football, Soccer, Golf, Softball, Cheer, Cross Country). Everyone in the community is invited to come run and donate to the cause. This year, we plan to donate the proceeds from the event to the Janea Aguilera Scholarship and the Dalton Kerr Scholarship. The event will be from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

Donation boxes will also be located at The Home Store, The Pit Stop, and Valley National Bank.

On Friday, October 21, the Lamar High School Football Team will be playing a Tackle Childhood Cancer Awareness game. T-shirts may be ordered by contacting Jenna Randle at LHS, Melony Schwartz at (719) 688-1917, or Sherri Kerr at (719) 940-0394. Proceeds will go to the Janea Aguilera Scholarship Fund and the Dalton Kerr Scholarship Fund. There will also be a ceremony at half-time of the game to recognize those from our community who have battled or are still battling childhood cancer.

If you would like more information or would like to help with the Race Against Childhood Cancer, please contact Jenna Randle at (719) 336-3488 or at jenna.randle@lamarschools.org.
