LAMAR, COLORADO – The Lamar Chamber of Commerce is seeking business and community professionals, interested and willing to dedicate their time, energy, and expertise, to serve on the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Candidates must be willing to serve a three year term, beginning January 1, 2017. The Chamber Board of Directors annually considers applications and nominations in order to maintain a board composition of thirteen Directors to represent the Chamber membership. Currently, they are looking for candidates to fill five (5) vacancies for the 2017-20 term. Applicants are considered based on individual accomplishments, contributions and dedication to the local community.

The Board of Directors is vested as the governing body of the Chamber of Commerce and will determine the objectives, policies and activities, as well as, ensuring the fiscal responsibility of the Chamber. Directors are expected to attend monthly Board meetings from 7:00 to 8:00 am on the third Thursday of each month; organize and participate in community events; and, make themselves available for special meetings and events throughout the year. Candidates for the Board of Directors of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce should be ready to serve in a manner that is in the best interest of the Chamber, its membership and the community.

In coming Chamber President, Ginger Coberley, states, “Each year new Directors join the Board and we welcome their fresh ideas and insight. The Board of Directors is a reflection of our business community and I am looking forward to bringing businesses and community leaders together. I have been working hard with area businesses and listening to their needs and really looking forward to making the Chamber of Commerce a great benefit to our area.”

Interested individuals are asked to submit a Letter of Interest to be reviewed and considered by the Chamber’s nominating Committee. Applicants are also asked to submit a photograph and a short biography for use in the media and in the event of an election by the Chamber Membership. If more than five qualifying applications are received, applicants will be voted on by the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Membership and election ballots will be distributed mid-November.

Applicants must be a Regular Member of the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, in good standing, or an employee of a Regular Member and must have been a Chamber Member for at least one year. Letters of Interest, photograph and bio must be received by 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 4, 2016, at the Lamar Chamber of Commerce office, located at 109A East Beech Street, Lamar, CO 81052.
