Memorial services for Meliton Max Ronquillo will be held on Monday, August 15, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Las Animas, CO.

Meliton Max Ronquillo was born on March 10, 1921 in Las Animas, CO to Benino and Pacomia (Ballez) Ronquillo. He passed away peacefully on August 2, 2016 in Las Animas, CO at the age of 95.

Max spent much of his rich life serving his country in the United States Navy. He contributed his skills during two major wars, working as a ship fitter aboard the famous USS Saratoga during World War II, and continued to aid in the war effort throughout the Korean War. At the completion of his military service, he found himself back in his home of Las Animas, CO where he worked at Fort Lyon until he retired. Max was one of six children. He was a member of the Las Animas City Council and St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Las Animas.

Max is survived by his sister, Juanita Clem; daughter, Margaret (Frank) Arnold; grandchildren, Gabriel Marquez, Marc Marquez, Eric Waldo, Lori Waldo, and Shawna Turnbaugh and great grandson, Alex Turnbaugh.

Max is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carmen (Cortez) Ronquillo and daughter, Maxine Marquez.
