May Marie Wright…May 1, 1923 – August 3, 2016

Graveside services for May Marie Wright will be held on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fort Lyon National Cemetery in Las Animas, CO. Pastor Susie Burley will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, CO.

May Marie Wright was born on May 1, 1923 in Shattuck, OK to Peter Booth and Nettie Smith. She passed away on August 3, 2016 in Las Animas, CO at the age of 93.

Marie (Granny) enjoyed many things in life especially the many years that she volunteered seven days a week at the LA Laundry from 1991 until December, 2015. Her favorite time of the year was September when her siblings and their families would come and can tomatoes. She had a love for crafts, particularly beadwork, crochet, canvas work and spending time with her grandchildren. Marie was a proud Denver Broncos fan and liked watching bull riding on TV.  On December 11, 1943, she married her late husband and former Veteran, Albert Theron Wright. They were happily married for forty eight years before he passed in 1991. Marie was baptized in the Methodist Church.

Marie is survived by her children, Ruth Ann (Michael) Cochrane and Barbara (Tom) Reed; eight grandchildren; twenty three great grandchildren; twenty six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Theron Wright; infant son, Clyde Lee Apple; siblings, Walter Booth, Lincoln Booth, Edna Reynolds, Marion Booth, Eunice Kirshman (Cole), Virginia Herber, and Vivian Williams as well as six infant siblings.
