Older Americans Honored by County Commissioners

Melody Dowell, Area Agency on Aging Director, presented a proclamation to the Prowers County Commissioners, to signify the observance of Older Americans Month, 2016. Laareen Haggard, a long-time supporter and volunteer on behalf of older Americans in southeast Colorado was honored for her years of service to the community. Over a dozen friends, family and well-wishers were on hand in the Commissioner’s conference room for the presentation to her.
The proclamation reads in part: Southeastern Colorado includes a community of old Americans who deserve the recognition for their contributions to our nation; as trailblazers, they have paved the way for future generations; our community can provide opportunities to enrich the lives of individuals of all ages by: promoting in wellness and social involvement, emphasizing home and community based services that support independent living and ensuring community members can benefit from the contributions and experience of older adults.
