Private Graveside Services will be held at Fort Lyon National Cemetery with Pastor Diane Hutson officiating.

Janet Sue Shriver was born on July 10, 1943, in Van, West Virginia, to James Covey and Ruby Agnes (Turner) Bonds.  She died on May 18, 2016 at her home in La Junta, Colorado.

Jan was united in marriage to Richard Shriver on October 4, 1963, in Alexandria, VA.  Born to this union were two daughters, Tracy and Aimee.   Jan was accustomed to life as a military wife, settling into the numerous posts that her husband was transferred to such as Myrtle Beach, SC; Ft. Rucker, Alabama; and Germany.  After Richard’s retirement from the military, they made La Junta their home.  For many years, Jan volunteered at the Crossroads Market Place. Jan liked to sew, cook, read, and support her grandsons in their many sporting events.

Jan is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Tracy Shriver (Rob Koplitz) of Centennial, CO; Aimee (Carlos) Torrez of Pueblo West, CO; grandsons Kerrick and Killian; sisters, Phyllis Browder of Ridgeview, WV, Garnet Nichols of Wharton, WV, and Linda DuVall of Tamarac, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Covey and Ruby Bonds; brothers Ewart Samples, Dickie Linville, and James Bonds, Jr.; and sister, Inas Pridemore.
