Richard Alfred Kasan…September 12, 1998 – March 23, 2016

A Memorial Mass will be held for Richard Alfred Kasan on Friday April 8, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado. Father Matthew Wertin will officiate. A Rosary/Scripture service will take place prior to the Mass, beginning at 9:30 a.m., also at the church. Inurnment will follow the services at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado.

Richard Alfred Kasan was born on September 12, 1998 to James R. Kasan and Pamela Y. Ballez in Pueblo, Colorado and passed away on March 23, 2016 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 17.

Richard, lovingly known to most as “Richie”, was a very outgoing and fun loving young man with an incredible smile. In his free time, he loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed all sports, but had a passion for baseball. In high school Richie was active in the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and a member of the True Blue yearbook committee. Richie was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas.

Richie is survived by his mother, Pam Ballez of La Junta, Colorado; father, James (Alison) Kasan of Fowler, Colorado; maternal grandfather, Alfred Ballez of Las Animas, Colorado; paternal grandfather Richard (Marie) Kasan of Pueblo, Colorado; paternal grandmother, Florence Bencomo of Fowler, Colorado; and Godfather, Toby Tyler of La Junta, Colorado.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Josephine Ballez; paternal grandmother, Loretta Armijo; and two great grandmothers, Emma Gonzales and Duby Roybal.
